Pluris Wedgefield Utility Wins 2016 American Water Works Association’s, “Best Tasting Drinking Water Contest” in Central Florida

FSAWWA Region III 2016 Best Tasting Drinking Water Contest

The Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (“FSAWWA”), Region III which includes Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Volusia Counties held its annual “Best Tasting Drinking Water Contest” on Wednesday, April 5, 2016. The contest is open to all private and government owned Central Florida Region III Utilities. All entries are judged by an impartial panel of judges and this year’s panel included Blake Bennet with American Cast Iron Pipe Company, and two media representatives Tom Sorrells with WKMG-TV Channel 6 and Brooks Tomlin with Fox 35. The identity of the samples were withheld during the judging.

There were 13 competing utilities including the City of Ormond Beach, Seminole County, City of Casselberry, Orange County Utilities, City of Winter Garden, City of Winter Park, Orlando Utilities Commission, City of Altamonte Springs, City of Mount Dora, Pluris Wedgefield, City of Melbourne, City of Deland and Volusia County. This was Pluris’s first entry in the contest.

As a result of the judging, Pluris Wedgefield, Inc.’s drinking water was awarded first place and recognition as “ Central Florida’s Best Tasting Drinking Water” among all 13 utilities.

By winning first place, Pluris Wedgefield will be invited to participate in the AWWA State Section contest for the “ Best Tasting Drinking Water, State of Florida” during the Florida Water Resources Conference on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.

Joseph Kuhns, Florida Regional Manager for Pluris commented, “I am pleased that the panel of judges, comprised of an AWWA member as well as media representatives for Channel 6 and Fox 35, recognized Pluris Wedgefield’s water as the best tasting drinking water in Central Florida with awarding first place to our utility.
